The History of Idisled

Idisled is formerly known as Heringdog Sled. The name Heringdog name came from the family name of the founder, Thomas Hering.

First of all let us write you about the history of Heringdog Sleds and how Thomas started years ago. This is how he remembers it:

1999 Galyateto, Hungary"I always made the sleds for myself, as at that time purchasing a good racing sled was impossible. I was sledding for 6 years already, and racing for 3 years when I saw the well-known racing sleds in Donovaly. I thought - since I was alrady making sleds for myself and for my also racer musher friends for 6 years -, that I can make something similar. Of course I tried, but the first prototipes were not2009 Lom nad Rimavicou, Slovakia looking as good as I imagined (laughing). I was racing with 4 and 6 dogs (in C and B category) at that time for many years, and I started to feel how I should develop these sleds so they stay light which of course takes less energy from the dogs. Developing and racing from one season to another with even bigger and quicker dogtrain that included huskies and other dogs as well, I have always came up with new solutions.

My goal is to make our sleds as stabil as possible, and in the past 18 years I have developed sleds which are. This way unwanted sliding was minimalised, and now they do not over-slide in turn of the road, therefore, the dogs do not need to keep the centrifugal force. This keeps lots of energy in the dogs! I have tested many European designed sleds, and not one company used this method, therefore, they do slide in all direction. Please note that I am talking about "unwanted" sliding or called drifting, and not that sliding which is needed to get the sled moving."

In 2012, a lot happened! Thomas Hering (the founder) and Mariann Bitter bacame great friends and partners soon after Mariann bought her first dog-sled from Thomas. Thomas now bacame responsible for manufacturing and Mariann agreed to handle everything else. Following this union, Heringdog was renamed to Idisled, which went through a "major facelift". Idisled Inc. is now Mariann Bitter, 2012, Erdely, Romaniaproducing more type of dog-sleds, operating a webshop, and tries to bring hobby, amateur, and professional racers, and people whom are interested in the sport closer to each other. The company also dedicated to raise money to sleddog foundations.

The company is now stronger than ever, and writing its history as we speak!
